Wine Keg Ordering Guide – Argonaut Wine & Liquor

Do I need special equipment to serve wine from a keg?

Yes. To keep your wine fresh and tasting its best, you’ll need the right setup:

Kegerator or Jockey Box:

If you’re using a kegerator, make sure it has temperature control. Red wine should be poured at 60°F and white wine at 55°F.

If you’re using a jockey box, both red and white will pour at around 38°F, since temperature is controlled by the ice in the box.

Avoid hand pump taps – they introduce oxygen and quickly spoil the wine.

What kind of gas do I need for a wine keg?

Wine must be served with a Guinness Gas Blend: 75% Nitrogen / 25% CO₂.

Using 100% CO₂ will cause the wine to become slightly carbonated and alter the flavor.

How much pressure should I use?

Keep the regulator low and steady at 2–3 PSI.

Unlike beer, wine doesn’t need high pressure.

The gas is simply there to push the wine out of the keg slowly and smoothly.

What tap or coupler do I need?

Most U.S. wine kegs use a standard Sankey-D coupler (the same as domestic beer).

Some imported kegs may require special couplers. We include this info whenever possible, and compatible couplers are easy to find on Amazon.

How long does a wine keg last?

Unopened keg: Up to 1 year (thanks to no light exposure or gas exchange).

Once tapped: Enjoy within 60–90 days for best quality.

With the right setup, every glass of wine from your keg will taste as fresh as the first!
